Intercultural Week 2024

Last week was an absolute blast as we dove into Intercultural Week with the theme “55 Cultures: Together We Make a Beautiful Garden.” It was like a burst of colour and energy that lit up our school!

We started the week off with a NATIONAL FLOWER ART activity. Each child coloured a flower representing their country, and when we put them all together, it was like stepping into a rainbow garden.

On Tuesday , we had SHOW AND TELL. The children brought in items that represents their culture and presented it to the class.

Wednesday was DRESS UP DAY. Children wore traditional dress from their culture/clothing that represents their traditions.

Then came LÁ GLAS (Green Day), and we all rocked our green gear! The children did some lovely art, took part in some Kahoot quizes and sang the National Anthem.

We had céilí dancing with the amazing Ms. McCormack. Who knew we had so many Riverdancers in our midst?

The fun didn’t stop there. We were treated to a concert by the talented duo, Ms. Henshaw and Ms. Carty. Their music had us all tapping our feet and singing along.

Rang a 4 took part in the Féile Ceoil in the Dean Crowe Thetare and we were so proud of them.

On Friday some amazing parents came in to chat with us about their home countries. We learned so much and got to ask all the burning questions, like what’s the best food and coolest tradition. It was like taking a trip around the globe without ever leaving our seats.

As we wrapped up the week, we were buzzing with excitement and gratitude. Intercultural Week showed us that when we come together, magic happens. We may be from different places, but we’re all part of one big, beautiful family here at St. Mary’s Primary School.

Thanks to everyone who made Intercultural Week a smashing success. Let’s keep the celebration going and spread that love and understanding every single day!
