My name is Iseult Murphy and I am the Home School Community Liaison Coordinator here at St. Mary’s NS. We recognise parents as the primary educators of our pupils here at St. Mary’s NS.  My primary role is to work in partnership with the school, the home and the community to support parents in relation to their child’s education in whatever way is suitable for the family.

I work closely with parents and families to raise awareness in parents of their own abilities to enhance their children’s education and to assist them in developing relevant skills. We are hoping to run some parent courses this year so please keep an eye on this webpage and families will also be contacted by text message about upcoming courses. Courses may range from crafty courses such as Flower Arranging, Knitting and Sewing and Wellbeing to more academic courses such as Numeracy or Literacy based courses.

I also support families in terms of maximising their children’s attendance and participation in our school. Should families need personal support or assistance from community agencies in relation to any issues or difficulties they are experiencing, I can co-ordinate that for families as part of my role in the school.

A large part of my role is making home visits to families to offer support and guidance as necessary. These are important links in forming a bond of trust between the home and school. I am hoping to resume these shortly, as per most up to date Covid-19 guidelines.

I am available at the Junior and Senior Infant gate each morning should you wish to talk with me, or I am contactable at the above contacts throughout the school day. I am looking forward to meeting and working with our parents as we commence our new school year!

Kind regards,

Iseult Murphy
