We have recently finished our Active School Week. From Monday to Friday we did really fun activities including dancing, tennis, hockey, taekwondo, basketball, hurling, cross country running, gymnastics, gym circuit training and athletics. All classes, teachers and many parents took part in our daily ‘walk a mile with a smile’ challenge. The senior classes took part in a ‘marathon mission competition’ whereby all classes kept a record of how many miles were walked or ran during the week. In total, the classes completed 2937 miles (113 marathons!). The winners, Ms Browne’s class, ran a total of 450 miles!
Well done to all those who took part in our Active School Travel initiative last week. Your participation was much appreciated. Thank you to Fifth class for completing the charity exercise bike challenge on Friday.
To rap this up, we would like to say a MASSIVE thank you to all those who got involved in our Active School Week and especially to the local clubs/gyms who offered their time and resources to give our students ‘taster sessions’ of their sports. It is recommended that children are active for 60 minutes per day and we hope this week has proved that this is both possible and fun…..Lets stay active!
(Holly Hand, sixth class)
