Crafting St. Brigid’s Crosses

The Sacrament classes of 2nd and 6th class at St. Mary’s Primary School recently took part in a special tradition to celebrate St. Brigid’s Day. Using rushes, the students worked together to create beautiful St. Brigid’s Crosses, a symbol of faith and protection. This activity not only allowed the children to connect with an important Irish tradition but also fostered teamwork and creativity.

Both classes enjoyed the hands-on activity and by the end, they had crafted an impressive collection of crosses.

Once completed, the students proudly visited the junior classes to showcase their work. They explained the significance of the St. Brigid’s Cross and shared the story of St. Brigid’s kindness and generosity.
